Eczema

Eczema is also called atopic dermatitis. It typically presents as itchy, red skin. It can be aggravated by irritants, allergens, and infections. One of the most important treatments for this condition is to hydrate the skin as it is aggravated by dryness. Patients with eczema should use a gentle cleanser, shower or bathe for 5 minutes or less, and immediately apply a good nonscented moisturizer to the skin after bathing. We treat eczema with prescription moisturizers, topical steroids, anti-itch medication, ultra violet light therapy, and biologic medications. We customize the treatment to each patient to clear and control the skin.
